General Guidelines for Volunteering

  • Please sign up for each shift through our SignUpGenius schedule.

  • Enter through your designated volunteer entrance (see map below) and check-in at the start of every volunteer shift.

  • Come with a servant’s heart and a good attitude, ready to pour into others and be flexible in helping the team.

Volunteer FAQs

  • Please wear clothes you would not mind getting dirty. Our warehouse can get hot or cold depending on the time of year, so please dress with consideration for weather. Remember to bring closed-toe shoes, as well.

  • Group Leader: Please share these confirmation details with all members of your group.

  • Chaperones for groups of youth: All youth groups (those under the age of 18) MUST have one chaperone per five youth volunteers.

  • Groups will be asked to complete liability release forms at check-in before volunteering.

Health & Physical Requirements

  • Most volunteer shifts involve standing and light labor for 2-3 hours. Administrative volunteers are able to perform tasks seated or in a chair. Please consider this when signing up to fill different roles (view our volunteer opportunities here).

Closing Policy

  • We do our best to remain open during normal business hours. If closed, notices will be posted on our Facebook page and as a banner at the top of our website.

  • The StoreHouse automatically closes if any of the 3 surrounding schools are closed due to weather. These include Forest Hills, Northview, and Rockford Public Schools.

Check-in and personal belongings

  • Please arrive on time for your scheduled volunteer shift and check-in using the Volunteer laptop in the cafe.

  • We do not have a private location for volunteers to store items such as purse or other valuables. Please lock personal effects in your car for the duration of your volunteer shift.

Parking & Entrance

  • Please do not park in front of any entrance doors or garage door spaces that may be utilized for incoming semi-truck deliveries or member loading zones.

  • Warehouse Volunteers: Enter through “Gate” and come in through door B, as marked on map.

  • TRS Volunteers: Enter through door A, as marked on map.

  • We do have handicap parking spaces available. If your team is having trouble navigating the entrance, or with parking and unloading of wheelchairs or other equipment, please let a staff member know so that we may be of assistance.
